Some friends had a family heirloom that wanted to be refinished but was in pretty bad shape from water damage over the years, especially the top. I didn’t know about how to do veneer at the time so I bought a piece of marble from Amazon and that worked great.
I stripped, sanded, and stained it to bring back the color. I also had to do some repairs where the wood was loose or broken.
I finished it with semi-gloss wipe-on polyurethane to give it a very smooth, durable finish.
