The image on this wall hanging is from West Colfax Avenue in Denver. I took a picture of this sign and digitize an outline of it in Photoshop.
The wood used in this piece is from fence panels that had fallen in a recent wind storm. They would have ended up in the dump if I hadn’t rescued them.
Most of the nails have been taken out and replaced with two new screws into each of the three supporting 2×4’s on the back. I also ripped some slats and covered the sides to give it a cleaner look. These have been painted black. The whole thing was sanded down to make it a bit smoother, but it’s still rustic looking.
After being hand painted, I sprayed it with polyurethane. I attached a heavy duty hanger to the back.
