I got this old film splicer through Craig’s List and love all the detail about the machine. I had seen similar pieces like this converted to lamps on the website for Rare Finds, a unique furniture store here in Denver.
I cleaned up everything and polished the chrome and brass pieces. I replaced the wood stand with a nice piece of hardwood floor I had in the garage.
The lamp portion of the piece was a little trickier because I’d never done this before. I got a light kit from Home Depot and got it looking right after a couple of different attempts. I got an appropriately sized lampshade at Target.
The woman I got the splicer from also gave me some reels with film on them. Her father was a home builder in the area and liked to mess around with movies. The label on the reel says “Mexico 1957” if you can’t read it.
